A summary of the European Parliament’s Fisheries Committee vote on 25 January, with a focus on REM, “the only point that did not go forward in the vote on the commitments of the future Control Regulation”.
The rapporteur for the report, MEP Clara Aguilera, affirms that the MEPs’ rejection of this compromise does not mean that the use of the cameras is out of the process, far from it, but now the amendments presented will be debated one by one in the session next Monday, February 1.
If there is no consensus on the amendments, the issue can be re-introduced in the Plenary of the European Parliament , which will debate the reform of the EU fisheries Control Regulation in March.
